Job Summary
Circular Genomics (CG) is a venture-backed biotechnology startup focused on the development of RNA-based medical diagnostics. Circular Genomics uses circular RNA molecules as novel and improved biomarkers to diagnose and facilitate treatment of psychiatric and neurological conditions. This new diagnostic technology will promote precision medicine for individuals suffering from depression and other psychiatric or neurological disorders.
Our expanding company is hiring a qualified full-time Research Assistant to join our laboratory team. In this position you will work directly with clinical samples and extract RNA for circRNA quantification with the purpose of facilitating progress in personalized medicine for various neurological and psychiatric disorders. The ideal candidate will have experience working with clinical samples and RNA and a passion for helping alleviate human suffering by assisting with cutting-edge biomarker technologies. He/She will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and produce reliable results by following refined scientific methods. This position requires excellent technical, organizational and time management skills, plus the ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and collaborative work.
Research Assistant Responsibilities

Perform basic molecular genetic techniques including RNA isolation and quantification procedures such as real-time PCR

Process sample intake including receiving, labeling, and analyzing clinical samples, such as blood and saliva

Prepare samples, and specimens, and set up and operate moderately complex laboratory equipment

Follow controlled experiment protocol parameters and perform varied, routine technical tasks associated with the execution of laboratory and clinical research protocols

Maintain excellent documentation and observational skills, and pay close attention to detail

Perform basic data analysis and provide initial summary analysis to investigator

Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support project specific needs

Provide daily maintenance of the laboratory, including the receipt and unpacking of reagents, cleaning of work surfaces, and routine ordering
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences

Interest in learning or proficient in RNA research techniques, including running and troubleshooting RNA extraction, reverse transcription, PCR, RT-PCR

Basic understanding of scientific methodology

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Outstanding problem-solving and analytical skills

Monitoring, stocking, and procuring research supplies

Demonstrated ability to collect and process molecular data using scientific software (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, Prism, & Excel)
